Autumn with Matilda

Autumn with Matilda Autumn with Matilda Autumn with Matilda Autumn with Matilda
Autumn with Matilda
Autumn has been so beautiful here in Munich. There where the occasional wet and grey days which belong to me to the season like the colourful leaves on the trees but those sunny cold days are just magical. When the sun is standing low and throws the most wonderful shadows and when we go outside, wrapped up in our woolen clothes and wear the sun on our nose.

It was also nice as it was Matilda's first Autumn walking and she could explore all the leaves, chestnuts (oh chestnuts), stones at the river Isar and so much more. It is such a nice feeling when I think about that I show her some things for the very first time, like the feeling of a fresh chestnut in her hands and how soft it feels and how shiny it is or all the colourful leaves and how they fall off from the trees and how you can watch them dropping on a windy day.....It fascinates me all over again as well.

Berlin I

Berlin IBerlin IBerlin IBerlin IBerlin IBerlin IBerlin I

A few weeks back I had some work to do in Berlin and was able to extend the trip by a few more extra days. It was the first time for me traveling on my own in 18 months since Matilda was born.
I was super lucky and blessed with the best Autumn weather one could wish for. It was sunny and a bit crisp but not freezing and I loved the signs of the season, the changing colours of the leaves, the light, for still being able to sit outside having a coffee....I rented a bike for the weekend which was the best decision as I was able to move around so quickly.

Here are a few impressions of my days there ....

An Autumn day in Munich

Autumn in Munich Autumn in Munich Autumn in Munich Autumn in Munich

A few weeks back we went to a friends garden. They found the garden growing wildly in the middle of Munich after their owners were too old to take care of it. So these ladies took on the project and are taking care of this piece of land again and I can't wait to see how it will look like next year, they have already put in lots of time and I am sure once its Spring/Summer you will be able to see even more the result of all this hard work.

I have always been very fond of such places, like old gardens and could have taken a lot more photos as there were so many little corners and things to just have your eye stop and look a bit closer.

So here are a few for your eyes. .

London in November

London // SchorlemädchenLondon // Schorlemädchen London // SchorlemädchenLondon // SchorlemädchenLondon // Schorlemädchen London // Schorlemädchen London // SchorlemädchenLondon // Schorlemädchen London // Schorlemädchen

Early November, we went to London for a for a long weekend. The weather was lovely and we were able to catch up with some friends, eat good food, see some exhibitions and just strolled around London's streets...

We had a lovely lunch at Leila's which was just so simple and delicious I am still thinking about it. Walked around Shoreditch and visited some of the lovely shops there, like the Mast Brothers shop. Indulged, and went for a nice lunch to the River Cafe, it was a sunny Sunday so we were even able to sit outside. I went with Matilda to the Ai WeiWei exhibition at RA followed by a nice lunch at the Rose Bakery Cafe up on the top floor of the great Dover Street Market. I carried her that whole day and I remember that by 5pm I thought my whole back was numb :) On our last day we went the Tate Modern, Borough Markets and also had a coffee at Monmouth cafe ...London is just always great... Can't wait to go back soon...

We are off for a five week holiday to Australia tomorrow. I am getting nervous when I start thinking about the long flight with Matilda and really hope it will be all fine. But of course I am also really looking forward to our time there...

Take care

Cafe Johanna

Cafe Johanna Hamburg // Schorlemädchen On a beautiful sunny Autumn day in October I went with Matilda to the city to meet a friend for lunch. After we had left I thought we could also walk by Cafe Johanna on our way home for a quick stopover. As I had Matilda in the sling it took a lot longer than it would have with the pram and so we arrived a little late and the cafe was not as busy as it is usually during lunch hours and it was just perfect for Matilda and I to sit down and have a coffee [just me] and just be in that wonderful place.

Morning swims in Perth

UntitledUntitledUntitled

Last month we spend five days in Perth and went almost every morning to the ocean for a swim. It is the first thing we did after waking up and I love it so much. The beaches are different in the west compare to Sydney. The sand is super soft and the water a bit warmer and so incredibly clear and blue. You can see so many elder people swimming laps or just going into the water to get a bit wet, chatting to others during their beach walk or having a black tea after their swim.
The Beach is a wonderful thing!
