B/W Sydney // Schorlemädchen B/W Sydney // Schorlemädchen B/W Sydney // Schorlemädchen B/W Sydney // Schorlemädchen

Four photos of our time while we lived in Sydney. Four wonderful memories, that is why I love taking photographs, to capture those moments...

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House B/W // SchorlemädchenSydney Opera House B/W // Schorlemädchen Sydney Opera House B/W // Schorlemädchen A few days before we left Australia I went to see one last time the Opera House. I love this building and I took my Leica with a black and white film in it to shoot a few shots of her. Well, little did I know that it would take me almost 1,5 years to fill up that film. It was so nice to see these snaps. What a great building!

Some more spots in Sydney

Sydney // SchorlemädchenSydney // SchorlemädchenSydney // SchorlemädchenSydney // Schorlemädchen

Being on holidays in Sydney felt a little weird when we were there earlier this year. We lived there for five years and know the city quite well and to be 'just' a visitor for a week stressed me before we arrived as I knew I wouldn't be able to go all the spots I fell in love with during our time there. Luckily Matilda took care of all this, we just had to do things a lot slower naturally so we picked carefully where to go and also stayed most days at home for a nice midday nap (mainly for Matilda). This city is so great. And looking at those photos makes me want to go back and see and hang out with all our friends there. Why oh why is it so far away, oh my!

Rottnest Island II

Rottnest Island // Schorlemädchen Rottnest Island // Schorlemädchen Rottnest Island // Schorlemädchen

And we went for walks and past pink lakes, it is hard to really see it in the photos but they were appearing in a great light pink. It was beautiful to see!

From the market

market haulmarket haulmarket haulmarket haul

These pictures are from a Saturday morning in Sydney a few months back. Our Saturdays back then were so different compare to those these days. We would wake up early, go to the markets, have a coffee, sometimes breakfast at our local cafe, read a book or in the paper and plan the weekend. Back home we would wash and the get the fruit and veggie ready to be stored. So much has changed since then.
Since Matilda is here so many of our routines have changed but somehow quiet a few have remained similar. In the last weeks of getting to know each other we also tried to find out how to go/adjust with/to her flow but also how we could introduce her to some of our little routines. These days we have to be a bit more organized but we still try to all go together to the markets on Saturday morning, sometimes we manage to grab a coffee together and meet up with friends for a nice chat and often go for long walks around the neighbourhood. And sometimes none of these things work out and we just all hang out together on the couch or in bed, which is also quiet nice.

Pool time with friends I

Pool time with friendsPool time with friendsPool time with friendsPool time with friendsPool time with friends

I have written many times about one of my favourite spots in Sydney: Wylies Baths.

And so it was no surprise that we tried to go and swim in the pool and hangout out there a bit before we left Sydney. One hot Saturday morning, we went with our great friends Mel and Polo. We found a nice corner in the shade and spent a few hours, chatting, reading & refreshing in the pool.

It's those days I think of a lot.

Cool Blue

Cool Blue Another one from Coogee beach on a hot Spring day. I remember it was one of the first warm days and the beach was packed with people enjoying the cool water and the warm sun on their skin.
I wish I could walk into the picture and go for a nice swim

Calm Clovelly

Clovelly, Sydney AustraliaClovelly, Sydney Australia

When I got the roll of film back and looked through the photos I had to go back and look at those two pictures a few times. I really like how calm they are. Especially when you know how crowded Clovelly beach can be on a hot Summers day, but on this Spring day the lifeguards are not busy and just chat while walking along the water and also just a handful of people are enjoying the first warm rays of sun at the water.

Spring has also arrived here in Hamburg and I am taking photos here and there and hope to show you some of them soon. Everything is a little more slow these days :)

Bondi - on a sunny Spring day

Bondi, AustraliaBondi, AustraliaBondi, AustraliaBondi, AustraliaBondi, AustraliaBondi, Australia

A few weeks before we left Australia I went to Bondi to do the coastal walk one last time before our move. I have walked this beautiful walk so many times and it just never gets old. It is such a stunning thing to do while being in Sydney. So here are a few photos from Bondi beach, the famous Icebergs pool and just a few of the wonderful view of the water and sky.

The last weeks here in Germany have been quiet exciting. Those of you who follow me on Instagram already know that I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl Matilda Lotte last Sunday. It was such an intense and wonderful experience and we are enjoying the first days with our new family member very much. It is so nice to slowly get to know each other and to realize that we are now three and not two anymore.

In other news, Will and I are also trying to write more regularly on our little food (project) blog Mostly Saturdays.

Ok, Summer!

Sydney - Camp CoveSydney skyline - Camp CoveSydney - Camp Cove

After going over and over the photos I took in our last weeks in Sydney I decided it is time now to show you some of them. Ok, Summer, here we go. Get ready for some blue skies, sunny weather, bare legs & sandals.

Also, those of you who follow me on Instagram might have already read about some news I am 'carrying' with me close to my heart since the last nine months. We are expecting a little baby to arrive in just a few more weeks (or anytime really). We are so excited and the last months have been really a big whirlwind with moving countries, apartments, getting ready for a baby....it all seems a bit crazy and I hope it explains why I have been a bit quiet here on this blog. Hope you are all well x

Jacaranda Trees

Jacaranda time in SydneyJacaranda time in SydneyJacaranda time in SydneyJacaranda time in Sydney

There has been so much on over the last couple of weeks and I am sorry that I haven't found much time to update this space. We have been busy moving into our new place and adjusting back to Germany while missing Sydney and the warmer weather. I found a new photo studio picked up a role of film this week. I had looked forward to seeing the shots I took in our last weeks in Australia and it was so interesting to see them, remembering the last days of farewell and enjoying our life there.

It is good to be back and nice to have now all our things around us again after living out of a suitcase for three months which was not so much fun in the end and we are starting making plans for this year which is already a month and a bit old (crazy!).

The shots above show the wonderful Jacaranda trees which I love so much and which were colouring the city and had started blooming just a few weeks before we left.

Have a great weekend,
Maria
