Fairlight Tidal Pool - Manly Sydney
We are back from our trip to Tasmania and it was truly amazing. I will hopefully get the films I shot developed within the next couple days so I will be able to show you some photos of this beautiful island.
Here are some photos of the Fairlight Tidal Pool in Manly. It was a beautiful Sunday morning when I took these photos and some elder men came to swim their laps.
I hope you are not getting bored by all these pool photos, only a couple more to go
Hope you are well,
Maria

Andrew Boy Charlton Pool - Sydney
In the morning
midday:
afternoon:
The Andrew Boy Charlton Pool is one of my favourite Pools here in Sydney. It is only a 10 minutes bike ride away from our apartment which is why I love to go before work (when some get their morning swim lessons) or after work on a hot Summer day or late in the afternoon on the weekend when most of the sun-bathers have left and the lanes are all empty to swim laps. But it is also great to bring a towel and books to just relax in the sun while the big ships are lying behind you in the harbour.
We are off to Tasmania tomorrow to spend four days on this lovely island. We will stay on Bruny Island this time and I look really forward to some quiet time, good food and beautiful nature.
I just got two rolls of films developed and there will be more to come after this weekend and I look forward to showing them to you.

Whylies Bath - Sydney
Whylies Baths at Coogee beach is the next pool I would like to show you here and which you will also find in the latest Weekender issue. A wonderful pool which gives you the feeling to be in the 40s while swimming your laps in the salty sea water or while reading a book and drying on the concrete area around the pool or finding shade in one of the many niche corners there.

Bronte Pool - Sydney
Thanks so much for all your comments on my last post.
As I don't have a hard copy of the magazine yet (just takes a little while to get form Germany to us here Australia) I thought I am going to show you some photos which didn't make into the magazine.
I will start today with some photo of one of my favourite pools in Bronte.
Enjoy!

Swimming in Pools
Those of you who have read this blog for a while, know that I am a big fan of good magazines.
I am very excited to announce that one of my favourites (The Weekender) has chosen some
of my photos of outdoor pools here in Sydney for their upcoming issue.
While it is not released until this Wednesday, January 16th, I thought I would give you a
sneak peak with this photo of what my beach side excursions looked like.

On the plate
Food here in Australia is amazing! You can get such great, fresh produce, especially now in Summer. One of my all-year favourites is an avocado toast but even this simple dish you can get in all sorts of varieties: on different sorts of sourdough w/ ricotta/lemon, coriander/chili or just with fresh sweet tomatoes and rocket .... and always w/ olive oil salt and pepper.
#1 Christmas Eve Lunch
#2 baked beans w/ fennel, chili and parsley
#3-5 making sandwiches (harissa w/ rocket/raddishes & avocado w/ salami/cheddar)
#6 Ottolenghi inspired dinner
#7 sourdough toast, ricotta, avocado, tomato and rocket w/ lemon

2013 - a new year
The new year is already some days old and everything is slowly getting back into the swing of things. I am a bit sad that the holidays are already over as I could have easily spend some more days with swimming in the ocean, eating lots of stone fruits, reading on the couch, having afternoon naps, crafting on little projects or hanging out with friends..... Apart from enjoying this beautiful Summer by being outside a lot I also really like to be at home. I especially enjoy the different light which seems to wander between the rooms.
I was thinking lately if I should get my digital camera out again in order to being able to show the results of my weekend photo excursions more promptly? I haven't really decided yet ....what do you think?
I am excited for the new year...there will be some traveling...in the end of the month we will be in Tasmania again and I really look forward to it as we had such a great time when we went last.
I also worked on a little project in November and will be able to tell you more about it in a couple of weeks time. I am quiet excited to talk about it and to show you the results....
Have a good start into the new year....
