Treats

Sometimes when you feel a little sick it is so good to give yourself little treats which make it seem OK to spend all Sunday in bed or having a running nose like there is no tomorrow.

Like this weekend, I needed such treats. I got fresh oranges for orange juice and also made myself a good muesli with roasted sesame on the Sunday, I really like this nutty taste of it...

I also got a bunch of tulips, the first one of this year. They are so bright and bring a feeling of Spring with them. Actually it got a lot brighter here anyway. I really like it when there is no need to switch on the lights in the morning. I always have the feeling it is in the middle of the night when I need to. But a bright, no matter if cold morning has something, I don't mind getting up ....and enjoy going out ...

Jumper love

My mum used to work in a wool shop back in the days and knitted many of the jumpers my brother and I wore when we were little. She also knitted jumpers on commission for people who couldn't knit and in the late evenings when she had some time left she was working on a few cardigans and jumpers for herself. She kept all of them in a closet up in the attic and last weekend when I have been at home I was looking through this closet and found those two jumpers she made when she was my age or even younger...I couldn't believe how great they are, the colours, the patterns, their condition - thinking that they are already 20 years old...I was wondering how long it must have taken her to knit them and also how great it is to make something like this which lasts so long.

She asked me if I would like to have them and I took them up with me to Hamburg and really love to wear them especially as it is so cold and snowy outside. I think it is great to get things passed on. It has such a great worth to me and I am proud when people ask me were I got them from and I can say my mom made them...

In the meanwhile I am still sitting here on my little scarf knitting project which is not really comparable with the things my mum knitted to this time..but I try and maybe one day I can pass it on too which I can imagine must be a nice feeling too...

Clouds

I just like the shape of them and I remember how I used to draw clouds like this as a kid

camera..and cloud no. 4 is as sweet as the others...have a look..

Ah and with Elisabeth's comment I just remembered eagerly her "couch cloud" which I

adored from the moment on I saw it..how could I have forgotten about it : )

A little sewing here and there..

A made this pair of coffs out of a jersey scarf for a friend's birthday the other week. She loves

cats...and so she got a little kitty to take care off ...

I plan on seeing this movie on the weekend. I already saw "Paris je t'aime" and liked it a lot especially the story with Natalie Portmann directed by Tom Tykwer ....

...Oh and how great is just "1901" from Phoenix in the trailer below...

Oma

Oma is the German word for granny and it was her 77th birthday on the weekend and I drove down to be there and spending time with them.

Sometimes a weekend just goes by like a few hours and suddenly you sit in the train again on your way back...but what you keep is the time and the moments..and it was a great weekend...

I took pictures of things I like in and around her and my grandfathers apartment. The cute curtains in the garage, you would never think of a garage behind it, but it is : ), her collection of apron dresses, her old phone which makes this nice "click" when you call her and she picks up, those nice plant images she has in her pantry, the "Sunday tea set", jugs she has all over the place, the kitchen which always reminded me to faces when I was a kid and the little mirrow in one of the kitchen doors..

It will take now a bit until I will have the chance to drive down again...but it is good to have such memories...

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It got pretty cold again, but I guess this is not any news

A desk story

Last Saturday when the sun was shining into my room for a few moments I couldn't resist to take a picture. You know from this post already how much I like this spot in my flat.

I really do.

I got the desk from my aunt who works in an old kindergarden which used to be a nun-kindergarden and they threw out all sorts of nice things when they cleaned out the cellar...And I was lucky to get this desk. We renovated it and I got a nice knob for it on my last trip to Copenhagen.

I like the fact to have a little drawer in it, to keep letters, pictures and all sorts of things and to see small signs of age, like marks or spots makes it so interesting too...

Apart from a bit of sun I also got a nice belated birthday present. A Kaweco pen. ..Apparently in the 30s many sport journalists used it as it was so short and perfect to travel with or to leave it in the pocket of their shirt...It is so simple and handy due to its lenghts and I look forward to writing with it and having it on my desk..

The other week I was the lucky winner of Thereza's lovely giveaway drawing.

It really brightened my day when I opened the mailbox yesterday.

Real mail is just great. There is something about handwritten addresses on envelopes..
