A desk story

Desk love
oh sun ...come by more often pleasethe knob
inside
it is old my desk...but I like such signs of age...in any way
The Kaweco pen which I got from a friend. They used to be a sport journalists pen in the 30s
a pen and tea

Last Saturday when the sun was shining into my room for a few moments I couldn't resist to take a picture. You know from this post already how much I like this spot in my flat.
I really do.
I got the desk from my aunt who works in an old kindergarden which used to be a nun-kindergarden and they threw out all sorts of nice things when they cleaned out the cellar...And I was lucky to get this desk. We renovated it and I got a nice knob for it on my last trip to Copenhagen.
I like the fact to have a little drawer in it, to keep letters, pictures and all sorts of things and to see small signs of age, like marks or spots makes it so interesting too...

Apart from a bit of sun I also got a nice belated birthday present. A Kaweco pen. ..Apparently in the 30s many sport journalists used it as it was so short and perfect to travel with or to leave it in the pocket of their shirt...It is so simple and handy due to its lenghts and I look forward to writing with it and having it on my desk..

The other week I was the lucky winner of Thereza's lovely giveaway drawing.

It really brightened my day when I opened the mailbox yesterday.
Real mail is just great. There is something about handwritten addresses on envelopes..

Look at all the beautiful things....
Thank you so much Thereza!

Hibernation food

I am back from my mind-trip to Sweden.
Thanks for your nice comments and your thoughts on this : )
The reality looks a bit different here: snow snow snow the whole weekend...
I went out for a walk and watched ducks flying.
Enjoyed the tiny bit of sun we got..outside and inside..
Had tea with a friend and ate a great blueberry pastry.
Bought some hibernation food at the farmers market: walnuts hmm
Sewed a birthday gift for a friend which I will show later in the week. As it is a little surprise.

Got this beautiful song send.

In my mind I am in Sweden I

In my mind I am in Sweden tonight
Don't get me wrong. I love Winter, the snow, the cold...I really do. But I somehow realize that I tend to look at pictures from the warmer times of the year when it is colder outside.

I stumbled over this image a good friend of mine took while we were traveling through Sweden a few years ago.

When I look at it I remember what a great holiday it was, what a beautiful country it is...how much I loved it there, how much fun we had, wild camping at the beautiful lakes, the morning swims, the red houses everywhere like in a fairy tale, the friendly people, the little islands around the coast...
I think of it very often and I thought I could post an image of this great holiday....just when it pops up in my head and I wish to sit at a lake in summer

Me and my camera look forward to having a date with Mr. Winter and some daylight outside this weekend.
But right now...I am in Sweden.

Wool for a Spring scarf
Lunch
A few images from my nice but a bit cold weekend.

I fixed my boat-earrings which were lying in a bowl and not being used way too long.
Went to the flea market even that it was -11° outside, I didn't know if it might take place, but there were a few people selling lovely things, like this little bowl with hearts and cake plates...
I catched up with friends, saw "where the wild things are" and liked it a lot, started my new knitting project a scarf for
Spring - I haven't decided yet for which Spring though : ) and loved having a simple but great lunch with bread, cheese and a boiled egg : )

Oh, you should check out the shop of this lovely lady she makes such pretty necklaces.

Have a great week...I start it with listening to his new music

A garland & some music on a Friday night

Note in my calendar
getting ready
the pieces of the garland
the sewing bit
finished...

Friday. Weekend. Already. This week really seemed like flying by...it was so busy and it is good that the weekend starts now.
I made this little drawing in my calendar the other day to remind me to make a little garland for the space where those little bags where hanging for a while. I always wanted to sew one and now as I have collected a few nice fabrics I finally found the time to sit down and make the magic noises with my sewing maching...tzzztzzstzzs...

I was sitting in the train from Berlin to Hamburg today watching the white landscape flying by outside and listening to this song.. Just the trees and houses popping up every now and than showed that we were not driving through a snow desert... I love Grizzy Bear...and I was still listening to their album while sewing tonight...

Anyways, I hope you all have a great Friday night...

Take care

Growing

flower
flower
flower
flower

Sometimes there are small things which really fascinate me.
Like this pot with a hyacinth I got a few weeks ago. In the first days I thought there will never come anything out at all as it was not showing any little bud or any move. I was really caring and gave it enough water and put a little string around the leaves that they can't fall over when they get bigger...And finally after a while it started growing and growing. I was sitting in front of it sometimes and hoped I could maybe once see how a bud opens and shows it nice blue-lilac-ish blossom..
Speaking of growing, I stumpled over this cute movie trailer today and thought I should share it. A documentary about the first year of four babies from all around the world. Sufjan Stevens in the background and really beautiful scenes in the trailer are pretty convincing..
Don't you think?
